Examples - Birch Creek

Preston Grant

Thread starter

Preston was the type of guy to always be on the look out for everyone in town, and that included the new girl, Candy. She seemed easily excitable and, well, there was no other word for it, a little insane. But when she'd asked him out, he'd figured why not. There was no harm in just showing her around town and introducing her to some people, was there? And maybe he'd be able to convince her to calm down a little bit, which would definitely be a good thing, especially after his talk with June. It seemed that the Candy that Birch Creek was seeing was definitely not the Candy that her family had seen before she was turned.

He checked himself in the mirror one more time before grabbing his coat and heading out the door. He made his way through the same town and soon found himself in front of June's door and knocked swiftly. He rocked on his feet, waiting for an answer, looking around. He smiled briefly, remembering Sandy's warning to not let her 'jump his bones'.

Who, exactly. Who didn't have family issues? Ever family did, really. Theirs did. Hell, their family had pretty big issues. Both parents gone, recovering addicts, a solider, and a fucking were that just kept causing problems. So yeah, they knew all about family problems, it was true. He snorted at Drew's words, shaking his head. "Naw, not unless you count the fugly old geezer with a beer gut? Which, you know, you probably do, so never mind," he said, teasing. He was still a little upset at what Drew had said and his response, but he didn't want to make a big deal out of it.

He flipped the channel, looking for something else, when it landed on the food channel. "HEY! Iron Chef America is on. Secret ingredient is...." he watched, waiting for the announcer to say it, "watermelon," he said, once they had. Watermelon? Seriously? How were they supposed to make dishes out of watermelon? It kind of just went by itself. "Wanna watch?" he called back out, putting the remote down. It was better than cartoons and reruns, at least.

"I'm starving, now," he called back, watching Alton Brown as he explained something or other about where watermelons were first discovered. "Between this show and the smell, I'm ready to eat." The food, though just simple burgers and fries, did smell really good and it was making his stomach growl. He hadn't realized just how hungry he was until he got a whiff of the food.

"Nah, I'm still good in here," he said, after lifting his coke to test the amount that it had in it. When Drew came in with the food, he took it from him and offered him a cheeky grin. "That's what I call service."

Henri wasn't exactly the most patient person sometimes, you could just ask June Denton that, and he would have hated to have said something that would have been regrettable to Mars' sisters. He'd had an episode while they were there, and he'd rather have been with Jayson than there, snapping at people. Normally, Henri was a joyous person, but at times like that, he was anything but, actually. Very few people, namely his sister and now Jayson, could get through to him when he was in such a shape. But that was over with now, and though he was still dealing with a lot of things, the prospect of seeing Mars and spending time with him was definitely appealing to him.

Henri chuckled when he apparently surprised Mars. He hadn't meant to do that, but well, Henri, still a newborn, took advantage of the fact that vampires could quietly do things. He'd never been one to really announce himself early, after all.

He chuckled, nodding his head. "The hurricane, huh? Is that what you're calling the arrival of your sisters?" He hadn't really gotten a chance to know his sisters very well, but he could tell that they were easily excitable and well, very girly, actually. But he could tell, too, that they loved Mars and that he loved them. "Busy," he said, shrugging slightly. "With the store and now the house, keeps me on my toes, really." He didn't know how to bring up the fact that he was basically dating a were-bear. Then again, wasn't Mars dating a human? So, there was that. Or at least he thought he was. "What about the shop?" he asked, referring to Mars hair place. "Business good?"

Kimama Tarango
Information
Personality Section

Kimama considers herself the strong one of the family. Not because she actually is, but because she is older. She has to be strong, for her siblings, for her mother, and especially for Anoki. She has to seem tough, like she has leather skin, like she needs to not let them see her sweat. She appears tough as nails, though she really isn't. Once you get past her exterior, you'll find a heart of gold, one that has been tattered, broken, and bruised. She has the willingness to love, yet she fears the emotion itself.

Very sarcastic and witty, Kimama is anything but stupid. She's always ready for a witty comeback, a smartass remark, anything like that. Her dry sense of humor takes some getting used to, but once you do, you'll find it normal, a part of who she is.

She can also be a charmer when she wants to be. Sweet, innocent, and kind. Though she choses to seem tough and distant most of the time, she is a very sweet girl underneath. All it takes is some prying, some digging around, and you'll get on her good side. And once you do, you've pretty much got a loyal friend.

The easiest way to anger her to to do something to her family. When you do? The gloves come off and she'll be ready to pounce on you. So, basically? Don't mess with the Tarangos. Otherwise you'll have to go through Kimama. Which isn't exactly advisable. She's a tough cookie. She'll fight if she has to. Hell, she'll fight if you give her the chance.

Her biggest soft spot is with Anoki. She's always kind, always understanding, always sweet when it comes to her brother. And it's always been that way.

She felt...a connection to him, when he said that her family didn't know about what they were missing out on. She wasn't used to being called a treasure. Most people found her annoy, even bothersome. Sure, there were people like Delilah who could put up with her, and the Adulescentia family, of course, but other than that, most people could only handle her in small doses. She'd simply thought that her parents and most of her family was of the same mind-set. He was winning her over. It wasn't that hard to do, she tended to like most, and by complimenting her, well, he was showing her a service that most didn't, at least not past her looks.

She had no idea what he was going to tell her, other than he seemed to have thought quite a bit on it. But, as he started speaking, and mentioned that he'd once had a wife, she raised her eyebrow. Not in speculation, but out of surprise. She hadn't figured that he'd be talking about that. But, she didn't say anything; she wanted to give him ample chance to speak his mind. It seemed to be weighing on him, like he needed to get it out, so she was going to make sure she gave him that chance.

However, when he started talking about saving her, letting her stay with him forever, she instinctively looked around for her. But, remember that he'd said 'had' a wife. That must have meant that they were no longer together. She wondered what had happened, but she didn't know if it was her place to ask or not. So, she let it settle, but then he was talking about how she reminded him of her, and she bowed her head a little bit.

"Oh," she replied, before realizing that that was just a little too lame. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" she continued, searching for the words to say "....and am I?"

Vanessa had a lot on her mind lately. She hadn't been lying to everyone when she said that her asthma had been acting up, because it had been. But that wasn't the reason that she'd been laying out of school. She just felt horrible and like a bad person. She'd caused problems for her best friend, and she hated herself for it. She couldn't get over all the trouble she'd caused. And all because she'd been feeling bad about her relationship. Really good, Vanessa. Real good.

So, in a last ditch chance to clear her mind, she left her house after telling her brothers that she felt like she was suffocating and that she needed some air. The good thing about living with them was that they didn't ask very many questions. They kind of just let her do her own thing.

However, while she was out, something caught her attention. There was a guy....a really quiet guy, doing..something to the lamp posts. She blinked and moved to him quickly. "Uhh, what are you doing?" she asked, her tone stern.
